Blog #6 - Assessment of Website / App: Adidas.com

For my next blog I am required to assess a website or app and talk about its details that make it special. For this assignment I decided to choose the website Adidas.com.

1. What is the website or app you chose?

The website I chose was Adidas.com

2. What is the purpose of this site or app?

The purpose of this site is to encourage and sell its Adidas products and brand to online customers.

3. Why did you chose this example?

I chose this example because Adidas is my favorite sports brand, and they layout of the website is to my liking.

4. Who created this?

Adidas was created by Adi Dassler, from a small town in Bavaria, Germany. The website is created by a smaller branch of Adidas, most likely the web development team.

5. Why was it created?

The website was created in order to have an online shop, a database of the history of Adidas, and information of the company.

6. What does it want the audience to KNOW? THINK? DO?

The website wants the audience to know that many of the products that are sold on the stores are also available for purchase in the online website.

The Adidas website wants the audience to think that it is a professional, legit business that is able to sell its products online.

Adidas wants us to order its brand products through the website. It also wants us to keep us updated through its Adidas newsletters.

7. Where does this website succeed?

This website definitely succeeds in showcasing its products in a fashion that - this is the best and only place to get the products efficiently and quick. With the trending page, you could see Adidas products that are on the rise instead of going into other sites to check. It also succeeds in telling its story through pictures, instead of merely just showing the shoes in the thumbnail.

8. How might you improve on it?

Although the homepage and shopping page looks great, it seems as if the company info, about us, and other ect. pages are linked to another site, with the layout looking drastically different than the site itself. I think that the Adidas website should incorporate its ect info onto its own site, and make it more simple and easier on the eye.

9. How might this website influence your own website?

this website already has influenced my own website through its pictures having a much larger impact on the website than the text itself. However, something I want to and will incorporate into my own website is the fact is the matching and color layout. I feel as if although the functionality of my website is fine, the color layout of contrasting (and perhaps - resolution of the photos) don't pop out as much as sites like Adidas. This is something that will be changed soon.
