Blog Post - Website Update FINAL

For my final website update (at least - for the class), I still decided to stick to my core direction (simplicity and fluidity), and made small but significant changes to my website. The following changes were made to keep the viewer engaged and eased:

Replaced Background

I feel this was more just to add something different. But having the background gray also doesn't contrast the images and background too much, so - I think it was a good choice.

About Me Image

Replaced the image of myself to a more updated one.

Changes to the Project Buttons

The first vital change that I made was how the project images / buttons looked. I made many specific changes on how the buttons looked and felt to the user down below:

Hovering over the buttons

A big change I made to the buttons are that hovering over the buttons now lighten up the whole button, instead of just a small bar showing the name of the project. Although this DOES sacrifice showing the title of the project before clicking on the page, I believe that merely lightening up the image makes the website pop much more than before. I was willing to trade the users ease of information with aesthetics. Another reason I did this was to make the user more willing to click the image to see what the project is, than too already see it beforehand on the title bar. However, it is a big risk, as the image of the button MUST be pleasing in order to be clicked on in the first place. So it's a big change, but I feel that this is the direction that I've been trying to look for since the beginning of the semester.

Added an Outline of the Buttons

Another small detail that made a big change was the outline and shadow of each button. This also was to make the image POP and STAND OUT. It very much contrasts the background, and pleasing to the eye.

Adjusted the Image Placement of the Description Pages

A minor update to each Description page was to move the images a bit more proportional to the actual box that it was in.

Added 3 More Projects

The final update that was added was adding in 3 more projects that I forgot about. I'm very proud of them, and hope you enjoy.

I am finally somewhat fulfilled in what I strove for, simplicity and fluidity. It's been a great time having this class and really gave me a taste in what BECA has to offer. After an amazing class and amazing professor, I hope to use my new profound knowledge and drive even deeper into Digital Media!

Thanks for everything, and have a great summer!
